Unified independent centralized system of the bodies of the State Taxation Service of the Russian Federation consists of the central republican (the Russian Federation) state run public authority (the State Taxation Service of the Russian Federation) and the state taxation inspections in the republics in structure of the Russian Federation, the inspections in the territories, oblasts, autonomous areas, regions, cities and towns (except for the those of regional submission) and the inspections in cities' districts which are juridical persons and have own independent budget of expenditure, operating bank accounts, official stamps representing the State Emblem of the Russian Federation together with the name of the inspection - these bodies submit to the Head of the State Taxation Service of the Russian Federation and its higher organs.

The State Taxation Service of the Russian Federation is headed by the Head in the rank of the Minister of the Russian Federation, who is appointed by the RF President.

The main objective of the State Taxation Service of the Russian Federation is the control of observance of the legislation on taxes, correctness of their calculation; completeness and timeliness of assessments to appropriate budgets of the state taxes and other payments established by the legislation of the Russian Federation, the republics in its structure, the bodies of the government of the territories, oblasts, autonomous areas, the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, regions, cities and towns, cities' districts within the limits of their competence.
