- Organization and State management of standardization activities;

- Organization of and State control over the activity on support of the unity of measurements;

- Development and implementation of the State policy on certification of products and services;

- State control and surveillance over the observation of the mandatory requirements of State standards and rules of mandatory certification; State metrology control and surveillance;

- Participation and protection of Russia's interests in international (regional) standardization, metrology and certification organizations;

- Head role in coordination of the activities of Ministries and Departments in fulfilling the conditions of Russia's accession to the WTO Agreements On Technical Barriers To Trade and on Sanitary And Phyto-Sanitary Measures;

- Ensuring active role of Russia in interstate standardization, metrology and certification within the CIS framework;In accordance with the inter-governmental Agreement on coordinated policy in the areas of standardization, metrology and certification (of March 13, 1992), the EuroAsia Interstate Council on Standardization, Metrology, and Certification (http://www.easc.org.by).

- Professional training and retraining of personnel in standardization, metrology, certification and quality support areas.
